How to Edit Photos Without Photoshop
Last updated October 2026 · 5-minute read
PhotoCraft provides layers, masks, filters, PSD support, and manual adjustments for free, in a browser tab, with no download. Here is how to replace the most common Photoshop tasks.
Retouch a portrait
Open the photo → select the Healing Brush (J) → paint over blemishes. For skin smoothing, add a new pixel layer, set blend mode to Lighten, and paint with a low-opacity soft brush. Use the Clone Stamp (S) for larger areas.
Cut out a subject
Select the subject and create a layer mask. Paint black or white on the mask to refine edges. Export PNG to keep transparency.
Adjust colour and tone
Layer → New Adjustment Layer → Curves for precise tonal control. Levels for quick histogram adjustments. Hue/Saturation for colour shifts. All adjustment layers are non-destructive and re-editable.
Composite two images
Open your base photo. File → Place Embedded to add the second image as a new layer. Mask, blend, and adjust until the composite looks natural.
Add and style text
Select the Text tool (T), click the canvas, type. The options bar shows font, size, colour, tracking, and alignment. Text layers stay live and editable.
Export for web
File → Export → PNG (lossless, with transparency) or JPG (compressed, smaller file). WebP gives good compression with optional transparency for modern browsers.
